Colt Paterson Holster

The Colt Paterson was in use in the U.S. England and France, and it derived its name from being produced in Paterson, New Jersey. 1836–1865 It had no trigger guard as most modern weapons do. The trigger drops when the hammer is pulled back.

Another Colt replica pistol needing a holster.

I am working on a Colt holster for a customer. I had made the one at the top in the picture a long time ago. The first one I made has a long barrel. I think is the first holster I ever made.

The one I am working on now is the same revolver or wheel gun type but it has a short barrel. The customer also wanted a full flap over the gun. This is posing quite a challenge because I am having to design as I go.

At this point, I am wondering if should I continue the tooling to include the flap or just do a simple boarder stamp around the perimeter. Or just leave it plain. What do you think I should do with the flap portion?

I certainly hope the customer likes it!
